PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The
2009 BIG EAST women's soccer championship field has been whittled down to four teams
as both No. 1 seeds advanced to the semifinals of the league tournament on
Sunday afternoon. National Division champion and No. 1 seed Notre Dame beat USF
5-0, while American Division champion and No. 1 seed Marquette beat Villanova 1-0. American
Division No. 2 seed St. John's beat Georgetown 1-0 in double-overtime at home, while American
Division No. 3 seed West Virginia won at Rutgers
1-0.
The semifinals of the league championship will be held
Nov. 6 & 8 at Morrone Stadium on the campus of the University of Connecticut.
Marquette will square off against West Virginia in the first match set for 5
p.m. ET, while Notre Dame and St. John's will meet in the second match set for
approximately 7:30 p.m. ET.
All three games will be televised live nationally on CBS
College Sports. In addition the title game also will be broadcast live on
numerous regional sports networks including SportsNet New York (SNY) and streamed online at www.bigeast.tv for $3.95.
