Eight BIG EAST Players Headline Naismith Trophy Preseason Watch List

Connecticut junior Maya Moore seeks to become the first player ever to win two Naismith trophies in high school and college as the forward headlines the 2009-10 preseason Naismith watch list presented by the Atlanta Tipoff Club. Moore won the Naismith National High School Girls' Player of the Year award in both 2006 and 2007 at Collins Hill High School in Suwanee, Ga., and claimed the college award this past March.

She is joined on this year's list by two teammates, senior Tina Charles and sophomore Tiffany Hayes. Notre Dame also has a pair of players on the list in senior Ashley Barlow and freshman Skylar Diggins, who was the 2009 Naismith High School Girls' Player of the Year. DePaul senior Deirdre Naughton, Marquette junior Angel Robinson and St. John's sophomore Da'Shena Stevens round out the BIG EAST contingent.

DePaul to Name its Basketball Court after Head Coach Doug Bruno

DePaul announced that the floor at McGrath Arena will be formally named Doug Bruno Court next season. DePaul Athletics Director Jean Lenti Ponsetto made the announcement at the end of the annual Doug Bruno Challenge Dinner fundraiser on Monday night.

Bruno is in his 23rd season as head coach of the women's basketball team and currently holds a record of 439-252 (.635). He has coached the Blue Demons to seven straight NCAA Championships, including a trip to the Sweet 16, and has received 13 total NCAA invitations. Bruno is also a graduate of DePaul, where he earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees.
