The BIG EAST Conference has named Pittsburgh running back Ray Graham, Pitt kicker Dan Hutchins and Connectict cornerback Blidi Wreh-Wilson the winners of the conference's weekly football honors for the week-ending Oct. 2.
Graham was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week after he had 29 carries for 277 yards and three touchdowns and finished with 374 all-purpose yards to key Pittsburgh’s 44-14 win against Florida International. It was Graham's first career start. In addition to the rushing total, which ranks second on Pittsburgh’s single-game ledger, Graham had 78 yards on two kickoff returns and three receptions for 19 yards. The rushing and all-purpose totals are the most by a Bowl Subdivision player in a game in 2010 and the rushing total ranks fourth on the BIG EAST’s all-time single-game chart.
Wreh-Wilson, who was named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week, scored a touchdown on a 44-yard interception return and had a 24-yard fumble return on the first play from scrimmage to set up another touchdown in Connecticut’s 40-21 win against Vanderbilt. He also had five tackles to help keep the Commodores scoreless in the second half and allow the Huskies to score the last 26 points of the game.
Hutchins, who was tabbed as BIG EAST Special Teams Player of the Week, scored a career-high 14 points in Pittsburgh’s 44-14 win against Florida International, making field goals of 30, 38 and 38 yards and going 5-for-5 on PATs. He punted just once in the 30-point win, but hit a 38-yard coffin-corner kick that went out of bounds at the 2-yard line. Hutchins leads the BIG EAST in both kicker scoring (8.8 ppg) and punting (46.1 avg.).
