PROVIDENCE, R.I. --
The BIG EAST Conference has named Louisville running back Jeremy Wright, USF linebacker Jacquian Williams and USF kicker Maikon Bonani the winners of the conference's weekly football honors for the week-ending Nov. 6.
Wright was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week for the first time in his career. Stepping in for an injured Bilal Powell, Wright rushed for a career-high 98 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries to help the Cardinals to a 28-20 win at Syracuse. Wright put the Cardinals on the board with a 28-yard touchdown run in the first quarter and he gave Louisville the lead for good with a 12-yard TD run in the third quarter.
Williams, who was tabbed as BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week for the first time, had game and career highs of 11 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks to help USF to a 28-27 win against Rutgers. Williams assisted on a third-quarter sack that backed the Scarlet Knights to their own 7-yard line in a drive that ended in a safety. He later registered a sack on fourth down in USF territory as Rutgers threatened to score the go-ahead points in the final four minutes.
Bonani was named BIG EAST Special Teams Player of the Week for the second time in his career after he scored nine points and was perfect on five placements to help USF in the win against Rutgers. Bonani made field goals from 47 and 21 yards, improving to 8-for-9 on field goal attempts since taking over as the Bulls’ regular placekicker.
