PROVIDENCE, R.I. –Louisville and USF split this week’s BIG EAST softball weekly awards as UofL junior Tori Collins was named the BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week, while USF freshman Stephanie Medina earned BIG EAST Player of the Week honors.
Collins posted a 3-0 record in the circle for the Cardinals, who went 4-1 last week, while hosting the Red & Black Tournament. The lefty collected three shutouts over three complete game efforts. She sat down 27 batters in 20.2 innings of work, while scattering five hits for a .074 opponent batting average. Collins only allowed five walks.
Medina led the Bulls offense, batting .636 against some tough competition last week, including games against No. 2 Alabama and No. 16 Missouri. She went 7-of-11 in five starts with two doubles and two home runs to go along with seven RBI, while crossing the plate twice. She slugged an impressive 1.264 for the week and had an on-base percentage of .692, while walking twice.
