Pitt senior Chelsea Cole made a layup off an inbounds play with 28-seconds left in regulation to help lead Pitt in a 63-60 win over USF in the first game of the BIG EAST Championship Presented By American Eagles Outfitters.

Cole tacked on a free throw to increase the lead to two (62-60) and the Panthers held off a flurry of USF 3-points attempts in the closing seconds to secure the win.

Cole finished with 11 points and eight rebounds. Pitt senior Jania Sims scored a team-high 17 points.

USF was led by 17 point from Andrell Smith and KaNeisha Saunders.

With the win the Panthers advance to face #5 seed Marquette at 2 p.m. ET on Saturday, March 5.
