Rutgers rallied from deficits in regulation and the first overtime to top No. 10/10 Florida 85-83 in double overtime. Guard Eli Carter scored a career-high 31 points to go along with seven rebounds and seven assists. The Scarlet Knights currently have a four game winning streak.
Rutgers defeated its eighth top-10 team in program history. Coach Mike Rice has accounted for two of those wins.The win marked the best victory over a nonconference opponent since RU defeated No. 8 UCLA on Dec. 3, 1981.
Cincinnati who trailed by 12 points with six minutes to go edged Oklahoma 56-55. Guard Cashmere Wright made a driving layup with 8.8 seconds left to secure the victory.
The Bearcats have won their last 17 games at U.S. Bank Arena in downtown Cincinnati.
Marquette lost to Vanderbilt 74-57 at the Bradley Center. Forward Jae Crowder posted his fourth double-double of the season with 16 points and 10 rebounds. The Golden Eagles outscored Vandy 35-30 over the final 20 minutes.
In Friday’s BIG EAST action, Seton Hall hosts West Virginia at 9 p.m. on ESPN2. The Mountaineers have won the last five meetings between the two teams.
