Syracuse held on to the top spot in both national polls for the sixth consecutive week Monday, matching its longest run as the nation's top-ranked team since the 1989-90 season. The Orange celebrated the occasion with a win against Pittsburgh that added a number of milestones to their legacy.
The win gave Syracuse a 20-0 record, marking the best start to a season in school history. It also gave the Orange their NCAA-record 34th 20-win season and was the 876th victory for head coach Jim Boeheim. Boeheim stands tied with the legendary Adolph Rupp for fourth on the Division I all-time wins chart.
Elsewhere on Monday, Marquette won a battle of top-25 teams at the Bradley Center as the Golden Eagles rallied past Louisville to improve to 4-2 in the BIG EAST. Rutgers held serve at home as the Scarlet Knights moved to 3-3 in the conference with a win against Notre Dame.
Tuesday's ledger lists one BIG EAST game as DePaul looks to snap a thee-game slide as the Blue Demons host Georgetown. The game will be televised on ESPN2 at 7 p.m. ET.
