1. Superior Academics: Considered the top public university in America by U.S. News and World Report, the U.S. Naval Academy boasts some of the best academics in the country. The Academy’s acceptance rate is under 10% and successful candidates must meet rigorous academic and physical requirements.

2. Great Stadium: Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium was completely renovated prior to the 2005 season. The stadium now features state-of-the-art video scoreboards, chair backs, a new banquet facility, renovated press tower and coaches’ suites.

3. A Note about Midshipmen: In addition to being the mascot of the athletics program, “Midshipman” is also the rank of undergraduates at the Academy. The student body is known as the Brigade of Midshipmen and students are classified not as freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors, but as fourth class, third class, second class, and first class..

4. Famous Alums: Alumni of the U.S. Naval Academy have gone on to make their mark in the military, business, sports and politics. Among the notable alums are U.S. President Jimmy Carter, U.S. Senator John McCain, Businessman H. Ross Perot, NBA Superstar David Robinson and football Hall of Famer Roger Staubach.

5. Triple-Option Attack: Since 2002, when former coach Paul Johnson came to Annapolis, Navy has been known for its vaunted triple-option offense. Navy has finished in the top 10 in rushing every year since 2002 and led the country from 2005-08. Current head coach Ken Niumatalolo maintained the school’s offensive philosophy after Johnson left to become the head coach at Georgia Tech in 2007.
