PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Marquette forward Jae Crowder and St. John's swingman Moe Harkless have been chosen as the winners of the BIG EAST's weekly men's basketball honors for the week-ending Feb. 26.
Crowder wins BIG EAST Player of the Week honors for the second week in a row after averaging 26.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.0 steals, 2.5 blocked shots and 2.5 assists in a 2-0 week for the Golden Eagles. He shot 64.5 percent from the field in the two contests. Marquette defeated Rutgers 82-65 and West Virginia 61-60. For the season, Crowder is ranked fifth in the BIG EAST in scoring (17.4), 11th in rebounding (7.6), and second in steals (2.4).
Harkless, who was named BIG EAST Rookie of the Week, averaged 18.0 points and 9.5 rebounds and shot 56.0 percent from the field (14-of-25) while playing all 80 minutes in a 2-0 week for St. John’s. He scored a game-high 22 points with nine rebounds in a 61-58 win against No. 20/18 Notre Dame, snapping a nine-game winning streak for the Irish. Scored a career-high 29 points in a win against Georgetown and averaged 23.0 points and 7.0 assists in a 1-1 week.
Anthony Collins, USF, G, Fr.
Averaged 13.0 points, 7.5 assists and shot 63.2 percent from the floor in a 1-1 week. He made two free throws with 3.2 seconds left to beat Cincinnati.
Kris Joseph, Syracuse, F, Sr.
Averaged 16.5 points and 9.5 rebounds in a 2-0 week. Scored a game-high 21 points in a victory at Connecticut.
