Martin flirted with a triple-double and finished with 33 points, seven rebounds and six assists. There have been two previous triple-doubles in tournament play. The last time a DePaul player had a triple double came on Jan. 24, 1989 as Diana Vines had 23 points, 12 steals and 11 rebounds at Notre Dame (728 games).
DePaul began the game on a 5-0 run as USF called a timeout 79-seconds into the game with 18:41 left in the first half.
The Blue Demons later led 11-0 before USF answered with a 15-6 run and tied it 15-15 with 13:06 left in the first half. DePaul held a 40-34 lead at halftime.
DPU once again won its first game of the tournament, a feat it has done in every BIG EAST Championship it has participated in (since 2006).
It was the highest point total DePaul has had in the BIG EAST tournament (76).
With the win, DePaul will play No. 1 seed Notre Dame on Sunday at approximately 2:30 p.m. ET. Notre Dame won the regular-season meeting between the teams 90-70 on Feb. 5 in South Bend. The teams have met on two previous occasions in the BIG EAST tournament, with both games being decided by five points or less.
DePaul beat ND 76-71 in 2007, while ND beat DePaul 71-67 last year (2011) in the semifinals.
