With the win, UConn advances to the title game of the BIG EAST tournament for the 22nd time in school history and for the eighth straight year.
Tuesday’s contest will be the sixth meeting between the Huskies and the Irish in the BIG EAST Championship final. UConn has won the five previous match-ups.
ND and UConn met twice during the regular-season, with the Irish winning both matchups. Last year UConn held a 3-1 edge in their four meetings.
Both teams were excellent from the free throw line shooting a combined 28-of-33. UConn was 15-of-18 (83.3), while St. John’s was 13-of-15 (86.7).
UConn sophomore Stefanie Dolson scored a season-high 23 points.

St. John’s was playing in the semifinals for the first time since 1988.
