Cincinnati advances to the BIG EAST Championship final for the first time. The Bearcats were playing in the semifinal round for the first time as well.

Cincinnati was the last of the 16 current members to win a game in the BIG EAST Championship. The Bearcats lost their first three games in the tournament, but have won five of their last seven.

Syracuse is the third team in BIG EAST history that will enter the NCAA tournament with just two losses (Georgetown in 1985, Connecticut in 1996).

Cincinnati made six of its first seven 3-point attempts. The Bearcats were 4-of-15 from 3-point range the rest of the way.

Cincinnati’s Yancy Gates has scored in double figures in seven consecutive BIG EAST tournament games.

Each team made the most 3-point field goals in its BIG EAST tournament history. Syracuse made 14 3-point field goals, while Cincinnati made 10.

Cincinnati never trailed in the game. Syracuse did not hold a lead in either of its two losses this season.

Syracuse was making its sixth BIG EAST Championship appearance as the No. 1 seed. None of the Orange’s five BIG EAST titles have come when the team was the top seed.

Cincinnati is the first No. 4 seed to reach the BIG EAST Championship final since Connecticut in 2000.
