The Notre Dame-Baylor Series
Notre Dame and Baylor met for the first time in 2010, with the Lady Bears earning a 76-65 victory in Waco. The teams are slated to meet next year (2012-13) at Purcell Pavilion.
Both former college point guards, Notre Dame's Muffet McGraw and Baylor's Kim Mulkey are the only coaches to both play for and coach a team that has appeared in the Associated Press Top 25 poll, and then also coach that same team to a national championship. McGraw played at Saint Joseph's (Pa.) when it rose to No. 3 in 1977, while Mulkey was the floor general for top-ranked Louisiana Tech in 1982. McGraw then took Notre Dame to the 2001 national championship, while Mulkey did the same with Baylor four years later. McGraw and Mulkey also are members of the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame, with McGraw being enshrined this past June, while Mulkey was a 2001 inductee.
We'll have a full recap from the team press conferences later today.

DENVER - (10:30 AM) - At the ESPN press conference this morning, the panelists had a chance to talk about the impact of Title IX (
40th anniversary). Rebecca Lobo noted she is a "Title IX baby" having been born in 1973, following its passage on June 23, 1972. Doris Burke commented that "
Title IX is one piece, of a many piece puzzle. Its gradual, attitudinal and cultural shift as to how society views women." Burke went on to relay a story about how things are changing. At the 2012 BIG EAST mbb tournament at
The Garden, a group of young fans (boys) were clamoring to get her attention, simply because she is a sports announcer. She is being viewed as a sports person.
