Louisville defeated in state rival No. 10 Kentucky in four sets to improve to 3-1. The last Cardinals win against a ranked team was against No. 21 Cincinnati on Oct. 16, 2010 with the last win against a top-10 team coming versus No. 9 Pepperdine on Sept. 10, 2004. The win also marked the first for a BIG EAST member against a top-25 team this year.
THREE’S A THEME
Three matches took place in the BIG EAST last night, all three resulting in a win. Louisville knocked off No. 10 Kentucky 3-1, Rutgers defeated Fordham 3-2 and St. John’s claimed a 3-0 win over Siena. The three schools are now a combined 13-3 to begin the season.
Another busy weekend is ahead for BIG EAST members as schools prepare for more non-conference tournaments beginning Friday. This weekend will feature 42 matches within 29 different tournaments.
