Louisville was impressive in its season-opener as the Cardinals scored a 32-14 win against Kentucky to retain possession of the Governor’s Cup at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium Sunday … The Cardinals scored touchdowns on their first three possessions, cashing in on drives of 99, 85 and 93 yards … Louisville held possession for more than 36 minutes and saw two players surpass 100 rushing yards … QB Teddy Bridgewater was a model of efficiency, completing 19 of 21 passes for 232 yards with no interceptions … RB Senorise Perry finished with a team-high 108 rushing yards on 16 carries with one touchdown, while RB Jeremy Wright had 105 yards and three TDs on 22 attempts … Bridgewater completed passes to nine different receivers … S Hakeem Smith — an All-BIG EAST First Team pick last year — had a team-high 10 tackles against Kentucky, while S Calvin Pryor had nine stops and two forced fumbles …The game against Missouri State is the second of three straight home games to open the year for Louisville, which hosts North Carolina next week.

Missouri State comes into Saturday’s game at 0-1 after the Bears fell to No. 22 Kansas State last Saturday in Manhattan, Kan., in one of the more deceiving final scores of the day … The Bears fell 51-9, although game was tied 9-9 midway through the third quarter, but Kansas State reeled off 42 unanswered points in the final 22:06 to run away with it … Missouri State went 2-9 last season and was picked 10th in this year’s Missouri Valley Football Conference preseason poll … The game against Louisville will be the second consecutive date against a top-25 FBS program for Missouri State … QB Ashton Glaser — a transfer from Missouri — completed 22 of 44 passes for 25 yards with one interception against the Wildcats … WR Dorian Buford led all players, meanwhile, with seven receptions for 114 yards against Kansas State … The Bears finished with 418 yards of offense and 19 first downs against the Wildcats, but were undone in part by three turnovers … After opening with two road games, Missouri State plays its next two at home, beginning with a Sept. 15 game against Murray State.
