Senior CLASS Award Candidates Announced
The BIG EAST has three on the list of Senior CLASS Award candidates. Connecticut’s Carlos Alvarez was named to list along with Notre Dame’s Dillon Powers and Grant Van De Casteele.
Wednesday Night’s Games
BIG EAST teams went unbeaten on Sept. 19 as Pittsburgh, Connecticut and Seton Hall picked up wins. DePaul battled Drake to a 1-1 double-overtime tie. Pittsburgh collected its fifth-straight win with a 2-0 shutout against Robert Morris. The Panthers are undefeated this season at 6-0-2. Connecticut also remained undefeated (6-0-1) with a 2-0 win against Boston College as for the second-straight game, Mamadou Doudou Diouf scored a pair of goals for the Huskies. Seton Hall posted its second-straight win, a 2-1 decision against Delaware.
BIG EAST in the Polls
The BIG EAST has three teams ranked in the top 10 of the NSCAA poll, with Connecticut leading the way at No. 2. Notre Dame is ranked fourth and Georgetown is ninth. Following not far behind, St. John’s is 13th and Marquette is 14th with USF listed at No. 22. Louisville received votes. In the Soccer America national poll, Notre Dame leads the way at No. 2, with the Huskies right behind at No. 3. Marquette is No. 10, St. John’s is No. 13 and Georgetown is ranked 15th.
