Penn State earned its first victory of the season — and the first for head coach Bill O’Brien — with last Saturday’s 34-7 decision against Navy at Beaver Stadium … The Nittany Lions opened the season with losses to Ohio (24-14) and Virginia (17-16) … Penn State has outscored its opponents by a 41-6 margin in the first half, but has been outscored 42-23 in the second half … The Nittany Lions have not committed a turnover in their last two games … LB Michael Mauti was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week after his 12-tackle effort against Navy last week … DE Deion Barnes shared the league’s Freshman of the Week honor after he had five tackles, a sack and a forced fumble against the Midshipmen … Mauti has a team-high 33 tackles through three games, while Barnes leads the squad with three sacks … QB Matt McGloin has thrown for 688 yards and eight touchdowns against just one interception in 104 attempts … WR Allen Robinson has 24 catches for 322 yards and four touchdowns and is averaging 107.3 yards per game … The Nittany Lions do not have a rushing touchdown this season.
