USF opened its season with back-to-back wins, but the Bulls try to snap a three-game losing streak with the trip to Philadelphia … USF is 1-1 on the road this season with a win at Nevada Sept. 8 (32-31) and a loss to Ball State Sept. 22 (31-27) … USF plays four of its next six games on the road, beginning with Saturday’s game at Temple … The Bulls have dropped their last three BIG EAST games, dating to last season … USF is led offensively by QB B.J. Temple looks to bounce back from a two-game losing streak following the Owls’ 24-13 setback at Penn State Sept. 22 … Temple had won five straight, dating to last season, before falling to Maryland Sept. 8 … The Owls rank eighth in the BIG EAST in offense, averaging 276.3 yards per game … Temple is one of two BIG EAST teams (Cincinnati) that has more rushing yards than passing yards … Temple had eight true freshmen and seven redshirt freshmen see action against Penn State … The Owls average 155.3 rushing yards per game, with RB Matt Brown averaging 67.3 yards per game … QB Chris Coyer is the team’s second-leading rusher, at 65.7 yards per game, and has passed for 363 yards and four touchdowns with one interception … The Owls’ top receiver is WR Jalen Fitzpatrick, who has six catches for 128 yards and a touchdown … The defense has been led by LB Nate D. Smith, a redshirt freshman who has a team-high 21 tackles … CB Justin Gildea and LB Anthony Robey have a team-high three pass breakups each … K/P Brandon McManus has made 6-of 7 field goal attempts and is the BIG EAST’s leading scorer at 9.0 points per game … McManus also leads the conference in punting at 47.1 yards per punt.
