Updated BIG EAST Notes
Syracuse travels Ithaca, N.Y., on Friday evening to face Cornell. The Orange (2-0) are in the midst of a seven-game road trip. SU is 13-3 all-time against the Big Red, with the last meeting coming in 2010-11, a 86-45 Orange win at the Dome.
All the Orange's games can be heard live on SU's flagship station, ESPN 97.7 FM/1200 AM, and on Orange All-Access at SUathletics.com with Brian Higgins '04 on the call. Orange All-Access at SUAthletics.com will have live audio of the game, while Cornell Redcast will have a live webcast at CornellBigRed.com.
Other games this weekend have Hofstra at No. 20/18 St. John’s (1-1) on Saturday at 2 p.m. Also DePaul (1-1) hosts Howard at 8 p.m.
On Sunday, No. 7/6 Notre Dame (1-0) welcomes UMass at 2 p.m., while Providence (1-1) is at Virginia and Marquette (1-0) is at Georgia Tech. All three games tipoff at 2 p.m.
On ESPN2, No. 2/2 Connecticut (1-0) takes on No. 16/13 Texas A&M at 2:30 p.m. The Huskies won last year’s matchup 81-51 in the Jimmy V Classic at the XL Center on Dec. 6, 2011. UConn has won 41 games in a row during the month of November dating back to a 71-65 loss to then-No. 9/12 North Carolina on Nov. 21, 2004.
BIG EAST teams are a combined 23-9 on the year for a .719 winning percentage.
On Thursday, No. 8/8 Louisville (3-0) won at Austin Peay 90-52. The Cardinals shot 58-percent from the field, including 68-percent in the second half. Eleven different Louisville players recorded field goals, led by Shawnta’ Dyer’s 12 points on 5-of-5 shooting.
