Eleven players from the BIG EAST have been invited to the 2013 adidas MLS Player Combine. The league released a 54-person list of seniors scheduled to take part in the event, which will take place Jan. 11-15.

The combine will be held at Central Broward Regional Park in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., prior to the SuperDraft. The players will be divided into four teams that are led by both collegiate coaches and youth coaches. Matches will be played as doubleheaders on January 11, 13 and 15.

NCAA College Cup runner-up Georgetown is well represented, with three players scheduled for the event: midfielder Ian Christianson and defenders Tommy Muller and Jimmy Nealis.

The highest-profile names are the BIG EAST trio of Dillon Powers and Ryan Finley (Notre Dame), and UConn’s Carlos Alvarez. All three are expected to be first-round picks in the MLS Superdraft, which will take place on Jan. 17, at the Indiana Convention Center, in Indianapolis, Ind., at 12 p.m. ET. For the ninth consecutive year, the draft will be held in conjunction with the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Convention.

The SuperDraft will include two rounds and 38 overall selections. The first nine selections are currently held by clubs that did not qualify for the 2012 MLS Cup Playoffs, in reverse order of regular season finish. The remaining 10 positions currently belong to clubs that were eliminated in the same round of the 2012 MLS Cup Playoffs, in reverse order of regular season finish. A four-round Supplemental Draft will take place via conference call on Jan. 22, 2013.

There are two players each from Louisville and USF on the list. From a Cardinals team that reached the NCAA Championship Elite Eight, defender/midfielder Greg Cochrane and midfielder Paolo DelPiccolo were invited. USF, which reached the second round of the NCAA Championship, was represented by defender Brenton Griffiths and midfielder Leston Paul. Providence midfielder Marc Cintron was also invited.
