BIG EAST play resumes on Saturday, Jan. 5 with five league games.
Pittsburgh and Rutgers both look for their first conference wins of the 2012-13 season when they face each other on Saturday at 11 a.m. ET. The game will be televised on ESPN2 at Rutgers. Pittsburgh, which is ranked No. 24 in this week’s national polls, leads the series 14-7.
Notre Dame hosts Seton Hall in its BIG EAST opener at noon on the BIG EAST Network. The Fighting Irish have won 10 straight but have not played since Dec. 21. Seton
Hall is coming off a thrilling 73-72 win against DePaul, and brings a seven-game winning streak into Saturday’s contest.
Georgetown will also play its BIG EAST opener when it travels to Marquette for a 2 p.m. ET contest on the BIG EAST Network. The No. 15 Hoyas have not played since Dec. 22. The Golden Eagles, meanwhile, are riding the momentum of an 82-76 overtime victory over Connecticut on Jan. 1.
Cincinnati hosts St. John’s on ESPNU at 4 p.m. ET. The Bearcats are 1-0 in league play while St. John’s looks for its first BIG EAST win. The two teams splits a pair of games last season to keep the series tied at 5-5.
Providence hosts DePaul at 8 p.m. ET in the final league game of the day. Both teams are coming off conference losses. The Friars won the previous meeting between the two teams with a 73-71 road win on Feb. 25, 2012.
