Saturday’s BIG EAST schedule lists five games, beginning with an 11 a.m. tilt on ESPNU between Syracuse and Villanova.
No. 3/4 Syracuse heads to Philadelphia alone in first place in the BIG EAST standings and as the winner of 28 of its last 29 BIG EAST regular-season games. Syracuse is the first team in league history to go 28-1 in a span of 29 conference games.
Villanova, meanwhile, comes in at 3-3 in BIG EAST play after the Wildcats beat Louisville 73-64 at the Wells Fargo Center Tuesday. The Wildcats are 4-1 all-time against top-five opponents at the WFC.
Two games tip at noon Eastern as Louisville visits Georgetown and Notre Dame heads to USF. Louisville entered the week ranked No. 5 nationally, but the Cardinals have dropped back-to-back BIG EAST games. Georgetown is 3-3 in league play and has gone 9-1 at the Verizon Center this season. The last meeting between Notre Dame and USF was in last year’s BIG EAST Championship quarterfinals, when the Irish were 57-53 winners in overtime.
Marquette hosts Providence at 2 p.m. Eastern. The Golden Eagles have played three overtime games in league play and have seen a fourth BIG EAST game decided by one point.
Pittsburgh entertains DePaul at 4 p.m. The Panthers, who have won three of four BIG EAST road games this year, are 1-2 at home in league play.
