PROVIDENCE, R.I.- Several first-place finishes earned Pittsburgh’s Brycen Spratling and Providence’s Emily Sisson BIG EAST Track Athlete of the Week awards. Connecticut’s Victoria Flowers was named BIG EAST Women’s Field Athlete of the Week for the third consecutive time, while Rutgers’ Kevin Bostick earned BIG EAST Men’s Field Athlete of the Week honors.
Sisson finished first in the 5,000-meter run in 15:44.40 at the Boston University Terrier Invitational on Jan. 25 to take BIG EAST Women’s Track Athlete of the Week honors. The junior’s time ranks first in the league and nationally. Seven of the national top-10 5,000m times were recorded at the Terrier Invitational. The mark is an indoor 5,000m personal best for Sisson.
Spratling picked up victories in the 200m (21.01) and 400m (46.25) at the Penn State National Meet on Jan. 25-26 to be named BIG EAST Men’s Track Athlete of the Week. The junior’s times rank first in the league, and his 400m mark ranks second nationally. The defending BIG EAST men’s 200m and 500m champion, Spratling marked a personal best in the 200m, while setting a 400m meet record at the Penn State National Meet.
Flowers earns her third consecutive BIG EAST Women’s Field Athlete of the Week award after finishing first in the shot put and weight throw at the Terrier Invitational. The senior finished first in both events for the third consecutive week. Her mark of 21.32m in the weight throw ranks first in the BIG EAST and fourth nationally. Flowers took first place in the shot put with a toss of 15.87m.
Bostick jumped to two first place finishes at the Metropolitan Championships to be named BIG EAST Men’s Field Athlete of the Week. The senior won the high jump with a jump of 2.07m and took the triple jump with a mark of 14.76m.
According to the NCAA, “qualification to the [NCAA] championships is based on the descending-order list for the season…for each individual event contested, the top 16 declared student-athletes will be accepted into the competition. For each relay contested, the top 12 relay teams will be accepted into the competition…There are no qualifying standards for the championships season.”
The BIG EAST Indoor Track & Field Championships will take place Feb. 16-17 at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.

· BIG EAST Competes at the Terrier Invitational
o Four BIG EAST women’s runners finished with top-10 national times in the 5,000m, including Providence’s Emily Sisson (1st – 15:44.40), Connecticut’s Lindsay Crevoiserat (4th – 15:58.47), Providence’s Laura Nagel (5th – 16:07.56) and Connecticut’s Laura Sara (9th – 16:30.50)
o Providence’s Shane Quinn ranks eighth nationally in the men’s 3,000m with a time of 8:01.49, earning him third place
· Marquette junior sets school record
o Marquette’s Carlye Schuh finished first in the long jump at the Bill Bergan Invite on Jan. 26
o The junior’s mark broke a 14-year old Golden Eagles indoor long jump record
· BIG EAST posts top marks in women’s field
o Cincinnati’s Mackenzie Fields pole vaulted to a second-place finish at the Rod McCravy Invitational with a mark of 4.20m, which ranks first in the league
o USF’s Courtney Anderson won the women’s high jump at the Jayhawk Classic with a mark of 1.77m, which ranks third in the league
