BIG EAST Player of the Week
Stefanie Dolson, Connecticut, Jr., F
Dolson led Connecticut in a 2-0 week, averaging 19.0 ppg and 4.5 rebounds per game in a combined 47 minutes of action. She shot 75 percent from the floor for the week and added eight assists, four blocks and two steals. In a win against Marquette, she had 15 points, four blocks and two steals. In a win against DePaul, Dolson had 23 points, six assists, five rebounds and connected on 10-of-11 from the free throw line. In both games, she went 6-of-8 from the floor. Dolson entered the week with the nation’s best field goal percentage.
BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Dominique Vitalis, Georgetown, Fr., F
Vitalis had 21 points and 11 rebounds in 22 minutes in an overtime loss at St. John’s on Feb. 9. The game against the Red Storm was her first career start. She shot 46 percent from the floor and made all nine of her free throw attempts. Six of her 11 rebounds were on the offensive end.
BIG EAST Honor Roll
Shoni Schimmel, Louisville, Jr., G
Schimmel had 22 points in 27 minutes in a win against Pitt. She shot 62 percent from the field and added six assists.
Natalie Achonwa, Notre Dame, Jr., F
Achonwa averaged a double-double in a 2-0 week for the Irish with 15.0 ppg and 11.0 rpg. She added six assists, five blocks and shot 50 percent from the floor.
Shenneika Smith, St. John’s, Sr., G
Smith had a season-high 26 points, five rebounds and four assists, making a season-high 11 field goals to lead the Red Storm to a win against Georgetown.
Kayla Alexander, Syracuse, Sr., C
Alexander had 23 points, nine rebounds and five blocks in a win at Cincinnati. She shot 67 percent in the game.
Laura Sweeney, Villanova, Sr., F
Sweeney averaged 18.5 ppg in a pair of games for the Wildcats last week, including a season-high 26 points in a loss to Marquette.
