Monday’s BIG EAST results produced a pair of come-from-behind winners as Notre Dame and Villanova overcame early deficits to pick up key league wins. The Irish trailed Pittsburgh 19-3 late in the first half before taking a 51-42 win, while the Wildcats erased a 10-point halftime deficit on their way to a 71-63 win against Rutgers.
The BIG EAST once again has six teams ranked in this week’s national polls. Monday’s release of the NCAA RPI lists 12 BIG EAST teams among the top 100 and 10 in the top 60.
Three teams — Marquette, Georgetown and Syracuse — are tied for first in the BIG EAST standings. Marquette has a chance to take the outright lead Tuesday as the Golden Eagles visit Seton Hall (7 p.m., BIG EAST Network). Marquette has gone 9-1 against the Pirates in BIG EAST play.
