The Hoyas improved to 11-3 in BIG EAST play by knocking off Syracuse 57-46 in front of an NCAA on-campus record crowd of 35,012 at the Carrier Dome. Forward Otto Porter scored a career-high 33 points as the Hoyas ended Syracuse’s 38-game homecourt winning streak.
Louisville moved into a tie for second place in the BIG EAST with a 79-61 win against Seton Hall at the KFC Yum! Center. Marquette joined the Cardinals and Orange in a three-way tie for second after Villanova scored a 60-56 win against the Golden Eagles at The Pavilion.
Connecticut moved to 9-5 in BIG EAST play with an 81-69 win at DePaul, assuring the Huskies of at least a .500 record in league play in coach Kevin Ollie’s first year.
Providence secured a first-round bye in the BIG EAST Championship with a 76-72 win at Rutgers. The Friars scored the last 19 points of the first half to improve to 7-8 in BIG EAST play.
