Junior Katie Keller of Louisville was named the Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division 1 Player of the Week and became the first player in program history to earn USA Softball National Collegiate Player of the Week honors, as announced March 5.
Last night’s BIG EAST schedule featured two doubleheaders, Providence and USF. The Friars swept Bethune Cookman 18-6 and 10-1 in Daytona Beach, Fla. The 18 runs in the first game of the double-dip marked the most runs scored by the Friars under eighth year Head Coach Kerri Jacklets.
The Bulls also swept its home doubleheader against Central Michigan by scores of 2-1 and 4-1 respectively. USF has now won five straight games after seven consecutive losses.
Only one BIG EAST game is scheduled for Thursday, Georgetown at Coastal Carolina. The remainder of the BIG EAST teams resume play tomorrow with 16 scheduled games. Teams will be playing in Arizona, California, Florida, Maryland and South Carolina.
