For the second straight week, Louisville senior Austen Childs was named BIG EAST Male Tennis Player of the Week, while Notre Dame junior Shannon Mathews claimed BIG EAST Female Tennis Player of the Week honors.

Two familiar names were called as 2010 BIG EAST Tennis Players of the Year, as Louisville junior Austen Childs earned his second straight annual recognition, while last season's Freshman of the Year, Notre Dame sophomore Kristy Frilling, also was honored. Frilling's teammate, Irish freshman Chrissie McGaffigan, was named women's Freshman of the Year, while Mike Lampa of St. John's earned the men's honor.

No. 1 seed Notre Dame won its 10th women's BIG EAST Tennis Championship title after defeating No. 3 seed DePaul 4-0. The Irish earned the league's automatic berth to the NCAA Championship and will be making their 15th consecutive appearance in the national tournament and 17th overall.

The top-seeded Cardinals bested the second seed Irish 4-0 to earn the program's second men's BIG EAST Tennis Championship title. Louisville earns the league's automatic berth into the 64-team NCAA Championship, marking its seventh NCAA invite.

Notre Dame sophomore Greg Andrews was named BIG EAST Men’s Tennis Player of the Week, while Irish senior Shannon Mathews was named BIG EAST Women’s Tennis Player of the Week.

Rutgers tennis senior standout Amy Zhang was named a Gates Cambridge Scholar – one of 90 recipients worldwide selected to study at the prestigious university.

No. 1 seed Notre Dame and No. 2 seed USF will represent the women while No. 2 seed Louisville and No. 4 seed USF will play for the men.

The conference also revealed the selection of DePaul’s Jasmin Kling as BIG EAST Freshman of the Year and Notre Dame head coach Jay Louderback as BIG EAST Coach of the Year.
