Villanova University men’s lacrosse standout Brian Karalunas has been chosen as the 2010-11 American Eagle Outfitters BIG EAST Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year. The selection was made by the Conference’s Academic Affairs Committee.

Cincinnati running back John Goebel, a member of two BIG EAST championship teams and a key part of some of the most successful seasons in school history, has been chosen as the 2010 American Eagle Outfitters BIG EAST Football Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

The winners were chosen based on the 2010-11 grade-point average of each student-athlete who appeared on an institution’s roster as of the last contest of the championship segment in each conference-sponsored sport.
