Louisville, Notre Dame and Cincinnati Set for NCAA Volleyball Championship

No. 4 Louisville upsets No. 2 Cincinnati 3-1 in Championship match.

After a three-year hiatus, the BIG EAST Volleyball Championship returns to the Kentucky International Convention Center in Louisville, Ky., this weekend. The University of Louisville will serve as the host for the seven-game tournament which will feature the league's eight top-seeded teams. The first game will start at 10 a.m. on Friday and the championship match will be held on Sunday. The 3 p.m. ET final will be shown on ESPNU. The winner will earn the BIG EAST's automatic bid to the NCAA Championship.

Fifth seed Notre Dame defeated fourth seed Syracuse 3-1 (25-20, 25-17, 21-25, 25-19) in the opening match of the BIG EAST Volleyball Championship on Friday at the Al McGuire Center, avenging a loss to the Orange earlier in the season.

Irish make semifinal round for 16th-straight season.

Sophomore Andrea McHugh of Notre Dame led the Irish to a 3-0 weekend and the tournament title at the Shamrock Invitational to earn the season’s first BIG EAST Volleyball Player of the Week award.
