The University of Connecticut field hockey team tied its highest ranking of the season as they earned the No. 5 spot in the final installment of the Kookaburra/NFHCA Division I Field Hockey Coaches Poll.
 For the sixth time in BIG EAST history, multiple teams have earned invites to the NCAA Field Hockey Championship. 
Seven BIG EAST women's soccer teams will participate in the 2009 NCAA Championship, including first-time entrant St. John's. It is the second time in league history seven BIG EAST teams have been selected to the field, a feat that also was accomplished in 2006. The total was one shy of the league record of eight berths which came in 2001.
 The Notre Dame women's soccer team won its 11th BIG EAST Championship with a 2-1 victory over Marquette on Sunday afternoon at a sun-splashed Morrone Stadium on the campus of the University of Connecticut. Notre Dame senior Amanda Clark registered her first career postseason points scoring a goal with 19:47 left in regulation.

 Six different schools were represented when the BIG EAST Conference presented its women's soccer postseason honors and named its all-conference selections on Thursday evening at the Hartford Hilton Hotel, in Hartford, Conn. Georgetown graduate student Sara Jordan and Notre Dame junior forward Lauren Fowlkes were named the BIG EAST Offensive Players of the Year, while Irish sophomore Courtney Barg was named the BIG EAST Midfielder of the Year.
