PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Georgetown’s Roy Hibbert is the only repeat selection on the 2007-08 All-BIG EAST First Team, the league announced.  The conference’s head coaches choose the all-league teams.  The coaches are not permitted to vote for their own players.

Hibbert was a unanimous selection along with Connecticut’s A.J. Price, Louisville’s David Padgett and Notre Dame’s Luke Harangody.  Each player helped his team earn one of the top four seeds and a first-round bye in The BIG EAST Championship Presented by Aeropostale, which will be played March 12-15 in New York at Madison Square Garden.

When the BIG EAST membership grew to 16 teams in 2005-06, the all-league teams were expanded.  Eleven players are named to the All-BIG EAST First Team with one of those players earning BIG EAST Player of the Year honors.  The conference will announce the Player of the Year and its other individual awards at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in New York City, March 11, at 6 p.m. EST.

Hibbert, a 7-2 senior center, helped Georgetown to the BIG EAST regular-season crown.  He averaged 13.6 points, 6.4 rebounds and 2.4 blocked shots, while shooting 60 percent from the floor.  The Hoyas enter The BIG EAST Championship as the tournament’s top seed with a 25-4 overall record and a 15-3 league mark.

Price was the floor general for Connecticut, which completed the regular season with a 24-7 overall record and a 13-5 BIG EAST mark.  A 6-2 junior, Price averaged 14.7 points.  His 6.0 assist mark placed him second in the league.  The Huskies are the No. 4 seed in The BIG EAST Championship.

Padgett also was a floor leader for Louisville, though he did it from his center position.  The 6-11 senior averaged 11.7 points and 4.5 rebounds, though his value to the Cardinal team was much greater than his statistics.  In league games, he set a BIG EAST record with a 68.3 field goal shooting mark.  The Cardinals are the second seed in The BIG EAST Championship.

Harangody was the anchor behind Notre Dame’s success.  The 6-8 sophomore forward averaged a league-leading 21.0 points and 10.3 rebounds, which was second in the BIG EAST.  He was even more productive in conference games, averaging 23.3 points and 11.3 boards.  Both figures led the league.  The Irish are the third seed in The BIG EAST Championship.

The BIG EAST All-Rookie Team is led by four unanimous selections: Georgetown’s Austin Freeman, USF’s Dominique Jones and Syracuse’s Jonny Flynn and Donte’ Greene.  One member of the all-rookie team will be named BIG EAST Rookie of the Year March 11 in New York along with the other individual award winners.
