PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- West Virginia guard Alex Ruoff and Rutgers guard Mike Rosario have been chosen as the recipients of the BIG EAST's weekly men's basketball honors for the week-ending Dec. 28.
Ruoff was named BIG EAST Player of the Week after he scored a career-high 38 points in a win against Radford and followed with a team-high 17 points in a 76-48 win at No. 15/13 Ohio State. In the 38-point effort against Radford, the senior set a school record with nine 3-point baskets. He also had eight rebounds and five steals. Ruoff averaged 27.5 points for the week and is the team's top scorer for the season with a 17.0 average.
Rosario was chosen as BIG EAST Rookie of the Week after he tied North Carolina’s Tyler Hansbrough for game scoring honors with 26 points in a 97-75 loss to the Tar Heels. Rosario was 4-of-8 from 3-point range. Earlier in the week, he scored 24 points in a 78-52 win over NJIT. For the season, Rosario is the BIG EAST’s top freshman scorer with a 17.5 average and leads the league in free throw shooting, making 88.0 percent.
BIG EAST Honor Roll Jeff Adrien, Connecticut, F, Sr. Scored 21 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in a 75-55 win over Fairfield.
Mac Koshwal, DePaul, C, Jr. In a 2-1 week, averaged 16.3 points and 15.3 rebounds and had a double-double in each game. Shot 56.3 percent from the floor.
Terrence Williams, Louisville, F, Sr. Produced 21 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists and three blocked shots in an 82-62 win over UAB.
Lazar Hayward, Marquette, F, Jr. Averaged 19.0 points and 8.5 rebounds in a 2-0 week, which included a 68-65 victory at NC State.
Andy Rautins, Syracuse, G, Jr. Scored a career-high 29 points and tied a school record with nine 3-pointers in an 82-71 win over Coppin State.
