HARTFORD, Conn.—Shoni Schimmel scored 13 points, while Monique Reid added 12 points and 13 rebounds to help Louisville beat Villanova 69-47 on Saturday night in the second round of the BIG EAST Championship Presented by American Eagle Outfitters.

The Cardinals (20-11) will play third-seeded Notre Dame on Sunday in the quarterfinals.

Leading by two midway through the first half, Louisville went on an 19-5 run over the next 6 minutes to blow the game open. Schimmel got the burst started with a 3-pointer. Five players scored during the spurt.

The Cardinals led 33-18 at the half and put the game away by scoring the first 10 points of the second half. Tia Gibbs' 3-pointer capped the run.

Villanova could only get within 18 the rest of the game.

Laura Sweeney scored 16 points and Lindsay Kimmel added 14 to lead the Wildcats (12-19), who advanced to the second round with a victory over Providence.
