1:00 p.m. ET update - Two women’s soccer teams broke into the national polls this week as Cincinnati (3-0-1) and Louisville (3-0-0) entered the top 25. For the Bearcats, who are ranked No. 19 in the Soccer America top 25, it is their first national ranking since 2002.
“We are pleased to be recognized by the soccer community,” said head coach Michelle Salmon. “However, it is still extremely early in the season. Like I said when the BIG EAST Preseason Poll was released, it doesn’t matter where you start, but rather, where you finish. There are 19 steps to our regular season journey and we are focusing on the fifth step, preparing for the College of Charleston on Friday.”
Louisville is ranked No. 23 in the Soccer America ranking, while Notre Dame (2-0-0) is the highest ranked league team at No. 4.
In the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/HendrickCars.com Poll, Notre Dame moved up to No. 3 and garnered one first-place vote. Georgetown (3-0-0) also is ranked at No. 22, while Rutgers (2-1-0) checks in at No. 24. Louisville and Marquette (2-1-1) also received votes.
