Thursday’s other game pits two teams that begin the year ranked in the USA Today preseason top 25, as No. 15 Pittsburgh travels to No. 24 Utah at 8:30 p.m. Pittsburgh is coming off a 10-3 season and a victory in the Meineke Car Care Bowl. The matchup is one of just three weekend games between nationally ranked teams. The game can be seen tonight on Versus.
In men’s soccer action, Providence starts its season by hosting the Ocean State Classic starting at 2 p.m. this afternoon. The Friars host intrastate rival Rhode Island in the first game of the tournament.
