FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL (0-0)
Head Coach
Mario Cristobal (Miami (Fla.) ’93)
9-27, fourth season
NOTES
Florida International will open its 2010 season with Saturday’s game against Rutgers in what is being billed as the biggest home game in the program’s brief history … Florida International began playing football in 2002, joined the Bowl Subdivision in 2004 and became a member of the Sun Belt Conference in 2005 … Head coach Mario Cristobal inherited a team that went 0-12 in 2006 and has won nine games in the past three years, including a 5-7 season in 2008 … The Golden Panthers were 3-9 last season and were the only team outside the Southeastern Conference to play both Alabama and Florida … The wins were against Western Kentucky (37-20), Louisiana (20-17 in overtime) and North Texas (35-28) … The Golden Panthers have a challenging schedule ahead of them in 2010 with road games at Texas A&M, Maryland and Pittsburgh following Saturday’s opener … The top player is WR Ty Hilton, who had 57 receptions for 632 yards and five touchdowns and averaged 28.8 yards on 22 kickoff returns last season.
