PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The NCAA has recognized 70 teams from 14 BIG EAST institutions for their commitment to academic progress and student-athlete retention as part of the 2010 NCAA Division I Academic Performance Program.
The honored teams rank among the top 10 percent of all squads in each sport as measured by the NCAA's multiyear Academic Performance Rate.
The APR provides a real-time look at a team's academic success each semester by tracking the academic progress of each student-athlete on scholarship. The APR accounts for eligibility, retention and graduation and provides a measure of each team's academic performance.
Notre Dame had 14 teams recognized by the NCAA to lead the BIG EAST, while Georgetown had 13 teams honored.
