South Bend, Ind. - No. 1 seed Notre Dame won its 10th women's BIG EAST Tennis Championship title after defeating No. 3 seed DePaul 4-0. The Irish earned the league's automatic berth to the NCAA Championship and will be making their 15th consecutive appearance in the national tournament and 17th overall.

The match started with highly competitive doubles pairings as Notre Dame won at Nos. 3 and 1. Chrissie McGaffigan and Kristen Rafael defeated Kirsten Gambrell and Gia McKnight 8-2 at No. 3, before the showdown of top-20 doubles teams resulted in the Irish clinching the point. The third-ranked pair of Kristy Frilling and Kali Krisik defeated 19th-ranked Anna Redesci and Selma Salkovic 8-6, improving to 21-0 in dual match play in 2010.

Cosmina Ciobanu gave Notre Dame a 2-0 lead after defeating Sandra Zmak 6-2, 6-1 at No. 4.

Ranked 16th and 79th, respectively, Frilling and Redecsi faced off again at No. 1 singles. The pair battled nine days prior, on April 16, in a three-set thriller with Redecsi coming away with the win. Frilling would have the upper hand this time with a 6-1, 6-2 victory to put the Irish up 3-0.

Krisik secured the title for the Irish by defeating Gia McKnight 6-4, 6-3 at No. 5 singles.

After going 3-0 at No. 1 doubles and No. 5 singles, Krisik was named Most Outstanding Tournament Performer. The senior was also credited with the singles victory which clinched the win over West Virginia in the quarterfinals on April 23.

Notre Dame's 10 BIG EAST titles are more than the other 15 BIG EAST schools combined; Syracuse has won the championship three times while USF has won once. In the 15 years since joining the conference, the Irish have won or been runner-up at every women's tennis championship.
