PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The BIG EAST Conference has named USF quarterback B.J. Daniels, Syracuse linebacker Doug Hogue and Louisville kicker Chris Philpott the winners of the conference's weekly football honors for the week-ending Oct. 23.
Daniels was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week after he accounted for 321 yards of total offense and four touchdowns to help USF to a 38-30 win at Cincinnati, snapping the Bearcats’ 13-game winning streak against BIG EAST opponents and their 14-game winning streak at Nippert Stadium. Daniels completed 13 of 16 passes for 286 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 35 yards and two TDs on nine carries.
Hogue, who was named Walter Camp National Defensive Player of the Week Sunday, added BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week honors to his ledger after he led Syracuse to a 19-14 win at No. 20 West Virginia, giving the Orange their first win against the Mountaineers since 2001. Hogue had 10 tackles, two interceptions, 1.5 tackles for loss, 0.5 sacks, one pass breakup and one quarterback hurry in the win, which put Syracuse in sole possession of second place in the BIG EAST standings.
Philpott, who was named BIG EAST Special Teams Player of the Week, tied a school record by making four field goals in as many attempts and scored 14 points to provide most of the scoring in Louisville’s 26-0 win against Connecticut. Philpott hit from 39, 42, 26 and 24 yards, tying Nate Smith and Art Carmody for the most field goals in a game by a Cardinal player.

Armon Binns, WR, Cincinnati — Had 12 receptions for 158 yards and two touchdowns in a 38-30 loss to USF.
Hakeem Smith, S, Louisville — Had eight tackles and a forced fumble in a 26-0 win against Connecticut, Louisville’s second shutout in the last three games.
Jon Baldwin, WR, Pittsburgh — Had five receptions for 139 yards, including a 45-yard touchdown catch, in a 41-21 win against Rutgers. Averaged 27.8 yards per reception.
Jabaal Sheard, DE, Pittsburgh — Had four tackles, two sacks, a forced fumble and a pass breakup in a 41-21 victory against Rutgers.
Ross Krautman, K, Syracuse — Kicked four field goals (28, 19, 33, 22) and scored 13 points in a 19-14 win at No. 20 West Virginia.
