Connecticut To Battle Oklahoma In Tostitos Fiesta Bowl

STORRS, Conn. - The University of Connecticut accepted an invitation on Sunday to play in the 2011 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl on Saturday, January 1, 2011 at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. The game is part of the Bowl Championship series and the Huskies earned its BCS appearance by winning the 2010 BIG EAST Championship.
 
Connecticut will face long-time perennial power Oklahoma in the game, which kicks off at 8:30 p.m. Eastern (6:30 p.m. Mountain) and will be televised live on ESPN. For complete UConn Fiesta Bowl information, including travel and ticket information, visit UConnBowl.com.
 
The Huskies finished the season with an overall mark of 8-4 and were 5-2 in the BIG EAST. UConn began league play 0-2 but won its final five consecutive games to take the BCS spot.
 
Oklahoma has an 11-2 record and had a 6-2 record in league play. The Sooners defeated Nebraska by a 23-20 score on Saturday in the Big 12 championship game in Arlington, Texas.
 
UConn moved into the AP top 25 for the first time this season on Sunday at the No. 25 spot. The Huskies were also the top "also receiving votes" team in the USA Today poll. The Sooners are ranked ninth in the country in the AP poll and tied for eighth in the USA Today poll.
