In the only BIG EAST game on Wednesday night, USF (6-5) moved about the .500-mark with a 61-49 win over Auburn. The Bulls were led by forward Jarrid Famous, who scored 15 points and grabbed six rebounds in the contest. USF held a 40-28 rebounding advantage, with Ron Anderson Jr. pulling down 12 boards in the effort. The Bulls held the Tigers to 34 percent shooting (17-of-50) while forcing 14 turnovers. It was the first victory for USF over an SEC school since 1995.
There are no games scheduled in the BIG EAST Thursday or Friday. Teams are back in action on Saturday with 11 games on the slate. Two of the three undefeated teams in the conference will put their perfect records on the line. Syracuse takes its 10-0 record into the Carrier Dome for a home date with Iona at 7 p.m., while Cincinnati heads to Oklahoma City to face Oklahoma in the All-College Classic at 9 p.m. on ESPNU.
Rutgers is the only BIG EAST team to hit the road on Saturday, as the Scarlet Knights visit Monmouth at 7 p.m. Louisville tries to bounce-back from a loss to Drexel in an afternoon match-up with Gardner-Webb at 3:30 p.m. West Virginia hosts Cleveland State at 2 p.m. at the WVU Coliseum. Pittsburgh also tries to get back in the win column after a loss to Tennessee in a game with Maryland-Eastern Shore at 7 p.m. at the Petersen Events Center.
Georgetown, DePaul, Villanova and USF will all play home games on Saturday. BIG EAST teams are 87-2 at home entering the weekend.
