Louisville defeated Pittsburgh 79-68 on Sunday afternoon in the KFC Yum! Center. The Cardinals improve to 12-5 overall and 3-0 in BIG EAST play, while Pitt moves to 8-7, 0-2 BIG EAST.
UofL junior Monique Reid led all scorers with a season-high 29 points, going 11-of-13 from the free throw line. Freshman Shoni Schimmel contributed 15 points and seven assists, while senior Keshia Hines added 10 points and seven rebounds.
The Panthers were led in scoring by senior Taneisha Harrison with 18 points. Senior Shayla Scott added a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds, while senior Jania Sims contributed 13 points and seven assists.
Louisville led 32-26 at halftime.
Louisville finished the game shooting 50.0 percent from the floor and just 26.3 percent from beyond the arc. Pittsburgh shot 38.3 percent from the floor and 29.2 percent from beyond the arc. The Panthers out rebounded the Cardinals 38-33.
