PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Louisville senior Sara-Maude Juneau earned National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) All-America honorable mention accolades, while Notre Dame freshman Nicole Zhang was named to the NGCA All-Central Region team as announced by the organization on Saturday.
Juneau earned NGCA All-America honorable mention honors for the second straight year. Juneau finished her career as the second most decorated Cardinal in school history, behind All-American Cindy LaCrosse.
Juneau was named the BIG EAST Player of the Year for the second straight season. She led the team and the conference with a 73.2 scoring average and was ranked No. 23 in the country in the final Golfstat rankings. The senior did not finish outside the top 20 in any of her 10 tournaments this year, and had five top-five finishes. Juneau highlighted her year with a first-place finish at the William K. Warren Irish Invitational, and went on to place sixth at the BIG EAST Golf Championship with a three-round score of 228. She wrapped up her Louisville career by finishing 20th at the NCAA East Regional.
Notre Dame freshman Nicole Zhang helped the Irish qualify for the NCAA Championship for the first time in program history. Zhang paced the Irish at the NCAA Central Regional, tying for eighth place with a three-round total of 223. Zhang fired rounds of 71, 78 and 74, helping the Irish to a fifth-place finish and secure a trip to the NCAA finals. Zhang also was an All-BIG EAST performer while helping the Irish to their fourth BIG EAST title.
