It’s rare that a coach’s first win turns into a career milestone, but that’s what happened with Connecticut coach Paul Pasqualoni in the Huskies’ 35-3 decision against Fordham … It was Pasqualoni’s first win as the Huskies’ head coach, but it was his 108th victory as a BIG EAST coach (with 107 coming in 14 years at Syracuse), tying Frank Beamer for the most all-time … Connectict had a relatively easy time against Fordham as the Huskies had a 434-169 advantage in total offense and a 21-8 cushion in first downs … Freshman RB Lyle McCombs enjoyed his collegiate debut with 141 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 24 carries … The Huskies used three quarterbacks regularly against Fordham, with QB Johnny McEntee getting the start … McEntee completed 8 of 12 passes for 113 yards … TE Ryan Griffin was the top receiver with three receptions for 97 yards and a touchdown … Griffin’s 97 yards were the most by a BIG EAST player in Week 1 … DE Ted Jennings had 2.5 tackles for loss and eight total stops to lead a veteran defense … K Dave Teggart has 260 career points, the most among active BIG EAST players.
