THE GAME
Saturday’s game will be the just the third meeting between Pittsburgh and Utah in a series that began in the 2004 season … Utah took the first meeting, 35-7, in the 2004-05 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl, while the Utes were 27-24 winners in overtime last season in Salt Lake City … Last year’s matchup saw the Panthers rally from a 24-13 fourth-quarter deficit to force overtime before Utah K Joe Phillips kicked the game-winning field goal … Utah is the first Pac-12 team to visit Pittsburgh since the Panthers defeated Washington State 17-13 at Pitt Stadium Sept. 2, 1995.

Pittsburgh dropped a 34-10 decision at Rutgers last week, leaving the Panthers at 1-1 in BIG EAST play and 3-3 overall … Pitt has lost three of its last four after a 2-0 start to the season … The Panthers are 3-0 when scoring at least 35 points and 0-3 when they have been held to fewer than 35 points this year … RB Ray Graham enters Saturday’s game ranked second nationally in rushing with an average of 149.8 yards per game … Graham has rushed for 899 yards and nine touchdowns on 150 carries and has the most yards through six games of a season of any player in school history … By comparison, Pitt legend Tony Dorsett had 892 yards through six games in his Heisman Trophy season of 1973 … QB Tino Sunseri has completed 118 of 187 passes for 1,166 yards and five touchdowns with seven interceptions … Graham is also Pitt’s leading receiver with 27 catches on the year … LB Max Gruder is second in the BIG EAST in tackles (51, 8.5 per game) … LB Brandon Lindsey has a team-high four sacks … The Panthers have just three interceptions.
