THE GAME
Wednesday’s game will be the eighth meeting between Connecticut and Pittsburgh in a series that dates to 2004, when the Huskies joined the BIG EAST … Connecticut gained a 4-3 series lead with last year’s 30-28 win at Rentschler Field behind 222 rushing yards from RB Jordan Todman, a 95-yard kickoff return for a touchdown by WR Nick Williams and three field goals by K Dave Teggart … Last year’s game figured prominently in the BIG EAST race as Connecticut and Pittsburgh tied (with West Virginia) for the conference title … The last two meetings have been decided by a combined five points.

Connecticut snapped a two-game slide with a 16-10 win against USF Oct. 15 … The Huskies enjoyed a bye last week … Connecticut has forced at least one turnover in all six games this season and has at least two takeaways in five of the seven games …The Huskies have not scored an offensive touchdown in their last two games and have had three games in which the offense did not reach the end zone (at Vanderbilt) … QB Johnny McEntee has settled in as the primary signal-caller with QB Scott McCummings seeing spot duty as well … McEntee has completed 99 of 189 passes for 1,209 yards and six touchdowns with four interceptions … RB Lyle McCombs is ranked second in the BIG EAST in rushing at 100.7 yards per game … WR Isiah Moore has a team-high 27 catches for 353 yards … LB Jory Johnson is third in the BIG EAST in tackles (8.7 per game) … DT Kendall Reyes is the BIG EAST leader in tackles for loss (10.0, 1.57 per game) … The Huskies have held opponents to a BIG EAST-low 32.4-percent efficiency on third down.

Pittsburgh returns from a bye week hoping to regroup from a stretch in which it has dropped four of its last five games … The Panthers are 3-0 when scoring at least 35 points and 0-4 when they have been held to fewer than 35 points this year … RB Ray Graham enters Saturday’s game ranked second nationally in rushing with an average of 134.1 yards per game … Graham has rushed for 939 yards and nine touchdowns on 162 carries and has the second-most yards through seven games of a season of any player in school history … Pitt legend Tony Dorsett had 1,072 yards through seven games in his Heisman Trophy season of 1976 … QB Tino Sunseri has completed 122 of 198 passes for 1,204 yards and five touchdowns with seven interceptions … Graham is also Pitt’s leading receiver with 30 catches on the year … LB Max Gruder is second in the BIG EAST in tackles (62, 8.9 per game) … LB Brandon Lindsey has a team-high 4.5 sacks … The Panthers have just three interceptions.
