PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Cincinnati senior Missy Harpenau helped the Bearcats volleyball team to a 2-0 week and was named BIG EAST Player of the Week. Her teammate, Caylin Mahoney was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week for her play as the Bearcats knocked off Marquette 3-1 who was previously unbeaten in league play. With its two victories over the weekend Cincinnati extended the nation’s longest home winning streak to 48 matches.
Harpenau finished last week averaging 4.71 kills per set in Cincinnati’s two matches. She recorded two double-doubles over the weekend. She registered a .444 hitting percentage to go along five services aces and six blocks over the weekend.
Mahoney earned Freshman of the Week honors for the third time. She helped Bearcats secure a spot in the BIG EAST Championship. She recorded 88 assists over the weekend and averaged 12.57 assists per set in the two matches. She also recorded three service aces and 14 digs in the victories.
