THE GAME
Cincinnati and Syracuse have met 11 times prior to Saturday’s game … The Bearcats hold a 6-5 series lead after winning five straight from 2005-09 … The Orange snapped the streak last year with a 31-7 win at Nippert Stadium behind a pair of touchdowns by RB Antwon Bailey … Cincinnati has won the last three at the Carrier Dome, including a 28-7 decision in 2009.

Cincinnati, which saw a six-game winning streak snapped against West Virginia two weeks ago, has dropped two straight following a 20-3 setback at Rutgers … The Bearcats can still clinch at least a share of the BIG EAST title for the third time in four years by winning their last two games … The Bearcats rank seventh nationally in rushing defense (93.6 ypg) … QB Zach Collaros, who has thrown for 1,860 yards and 14 touchdowns this season, will miss the rest of the regular season after suffering a leg injury against West Virginia … QB Munchie Legaux is expected to make his second career start against Syracuse … RB Isaiah Pead is third in the BIG EAST in rushing (96.2 ypg) … Pead has rushed for 962 yards and 10 touchdowns on 169 carries and is averaging 5.7 yards per carry … WR Kembrell Thompkins (42 receptions, 515 yards, 2 TDs) and WR Anthony McClung (40 receptions, 533 yards, 3 TDs) comprise one of the top receiving tandems in the BIG EAST … LB JK Schaffer leads the team with 100 tackles and is third in the BIG EAST at 8.9 tackles per game … Schaffer has registered three consecutive seasons with at least 100 tackles … DE Derek Wolfe is second in the conference with 14.5 tackles for loss.

Syracuse stood at 5-2 through seven games, but the Orange take a three-game losing streak into Saturday … The Orange have been eliminated from the BIG EAST title chase, but need just one win in their final two games to become bowl-eligible for the second straight year … Syracuse has played three overtime games this season — the most of any Bowl Subdivision team — and are 2-1 in those contests … QB Ryan Nassib is ranked third in the BIG EAST in passing (225.7 ypg) … Nassib has completed 217 of 345 passes for 2,257 yards and 20 touchdowns with six interceptions … WR Alec Lemon has team highs of 57 receptions and 710 receiving yards and six TDs … TE Nick Provo is a receiving threat as well with 43 catches for 453 yards and six TDs … Provo has set Syracuse’s single-season record for receptions by a tight end … RB Antwon Bailey is fourth in the BIG EAST in rushing (86.3 ypg) … S Phillip Thomas was the BIG EAST leader with six interceptions, but has been suspended from the team for a violation of athletics department policy … LB Dyshawn Davis leads the team with 10 tackles for loss … DE Chandler Jones has a team-high 4.5 sacks.
